On average, our facility grows approximately 65,000 poinsettias every year!
• Poinsettias can be grown outdoors during Summer but must be brought inside by the end of September to avoid cold damage.
• Pinching is required during the summer too keep plants bushy and compact. Do not pinch after Sept. 1st.
• Poinsettias require 6-8 hrs of bright sunlight daily.
• Starting October 1st plants must be kept in complete darkness for 14 continuous hrs.
• One way to accomplish this is to cover your poinsettia from 5:00 pm-8:00 am. A cardboard box or something similar would provide a good covering.
• Following this regime for 8-10 weeks will result in a colorful display of blooms for the Holiday Season.
Try it and see how rewarding it can be!!
